This ready to hang, gallery-wrapped art piece features a woman seated and sewing. Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velazquez (6 June, 1599 – 6 August, 1660) was one of the most important painters of the Spanish Golden Age. He painted many portraits for the Spanish royal family, other notable European figures and commoners and was the leading artist in the court of King Philip IV. His paintings were a model for realist and impressionist painters from the first quarter of the nineteenth century, in particular Edouard Manet. Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums and private collectors. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist’s canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting.
